The Hunger Games Love Triangle: Why It Never Should Have Been

Gale and The Love Triangle: The Hunger Games’ Greatest Flaw

(Spoilers for all three Hunger Games books are below).

The Hunger Games is one of popular fiction’s greatest contributions to the general public’s awareness of the corruption of government and the lies of media.  These are serious, and still relevant issues, that are explored in Suzanne Collins’s young adult series.  They’re the issues that make this series relevant for everyone that reads these books, and not just the teenagers they were marketed for.

While the exploration of these issues may contribute to the Hunger Games’ greatest merits, the series also has its flaws, and no flaw is greater in this trilogy than the Peeta, Gale, and Katniss love triangle.  Sadly this is something that should have been avoided all together as it undermines all the serious issues mentioned above. Unfortunately the teenybopper love saga still made its way into a prominent part of the side story. Here are the reasons why it should have never have been, and what could have been done in its place.

Diablo III For Console or PC?

Diablo III is Better for Console Than It Is For PC

As a longtime fan of Blizzard Games and the Diablo franchise, I was surprised Blizzard allowed one of its games to head over to console.  Blizzard doesn’t do this often, and the last time I tried a Blizzard game on a console (Starcraft for Nintendo 64) the results weren’t up to par.

Fortunately, Diablo 3 transfers over to console cleanly. I got the experience of playing the game on Xbox, where I beat the game on co-op with a friend. Not only did I think the transition worked, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I did when I played the game for PC.

Deckard is Human

Taking Sides on the Blade Runner Question

(Spoilers for the film Blade Runner below).

Is Deckard a human or a replicant?

That is the question that has divided Blade Runner fans for many years.  Not helping the debate is the fact that the cast and filmmakers don’t even agree as to whether or not Deckard should be considered a replicant or a human – this most notably led to a number of conflicts between director Ridley Scott who argued for Deckard being a replicant, and leading man Harrison Ford who argued that Deckard was a human.

So I’m taking a stance, and looking at the title that stance should be obvious: Deckard is human.
Disregarding the fact that Blade Runner is loosely based upon the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and in this novel Deckard is human!  The primary reason for why Deckard should be human is that it supports the film’s cynical themes about the nature of humanity.
