ATG Reviews
ATG Reviews is a website dedicated to the fantasy and science fiction genres. Founded in the beginning of 2013 by Justin aka The Wanderer and Peter aka The World Weary we provide reviews of books, video games, films, and television shows related to these genres as well as current events, press releases, and all other sorts of updates. Reviews will encompass everything from classic science fiction and fantasy items to current ones.
What does ATG stand for?
All That’s Gold.
Truth be told, before we built this website, we wrote all of our reviews on a blogger site we created called All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter and that is where our name comes from. Wanting to shorten the name of the new site and thinking the acronym ATIGDNG was ridiculous we became ATG Reviews.
To the fantasy fans and literature fans out there you may recognize that name (All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter) from a poem written by J.R.R. Tolkien from the Fellowship of the Ring. Tolkien’s poem was of course based off Shakespeare’s play The Merchant of Venice. Essentially the name was chosen in order to pay tribute one of the most influential people in fantasy (Tolkien) and one of the most influential men in literature (Shakespeare). Read the poems below if you’re curious.
Tolkien’s Poem
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king
Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice
All that glisters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
Had you been as wise as bold,
Young in limbs, in judgement old
Your answer had not been inscroll’d
Fare you well, your suit is cold

Gold Articles
What are Gold Articles?
Gold Articles are an assortment of articles ranging from best of lists, worst of lists, analytical articles, adaptation comparisons, etc. etc. about the myriad of fantasy and science fiction works. In short these are kind of like opinion pieces. Discussion for these articles is strongly encouraged so long as it follows our commenting policies.
Social Media
We are currently active on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and Goodreads. You can talk to us on our social media sites, or on this website. As far as social media is concerned we’ve divided up the responsibilities in who runs which social media site. If you talk to us on Facebook you will be talking to The World Weary, if you talk to us on Twitter, Google Plus, or Goodreads you are talking to The Wanderer. This might change every so often, and we will let you know if it does.
Advertising
In order to maintain the cost of running this site we have opted to put up text and display ads. These ads are coming from Google, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon. In addition to ads seen on the home page, each review we write will have an ad placed at the bottom of the review. If you are interested in buying a book, movie, video game etc. that we’ve reviewed please click the ad, it would help us tremendously. We didn’t start this website for profit we started it for fun. Nevertheless running a website has its financial costs, and both writers at ATG Reviews work multiple jobs or full time in addition to working on this website.
We will avoid putting up pop up ads and videos as we find these to be distracting and disrespectful. We will keep advertisements there for people who want to buy things, but we will make them as unobtrusive as possible for people who don’t wish to be bothered by them.
